Frequently Asked Questions

Membership & Enrollment

What makes our Pediatric DPC different?

At Resilient Pediatric DPC, we take a comprehensive, personalized approach to your child’s health. Dr. Alicia takes the time to get to know your family and focuses on building long-term resiliency. She performs extensive wellness bloodwork (starting at age 1) to ensure your child’s health is fully supported, provides lifestyle education and coaching, and maintains an extensive supply of third-party tested supplements tailored to meet your child’s needs.

All initial memberships require a 1-year commitment. The practice reserves the right to collect fees for the full term of the contract.
The contract includes a clause allowing either party to end the agreement if it’s not a good fit, with a $200 pre-cancellation fee.
For families paying the annual fee, it is non-refundable. If flexibility is a concern, consider opting for monthly payments instead.

If a family cancels and later re-enrolls, they must rejoin under the current pricing structure and repay the enrollment fee. Families may not transfer “primary” or “sibling” status between kids.

The enrollment fee helps cover the time and resources required to properly onboard your child(ren). This includes staff time spent reviewing and collecting your child’s past medical records, updating charts, and ensuring a smooth transition into our practice so we can provide the best possible care from day one.

Peace of mind that you’ll always have access to care – no matter the reason. Many families end up in the ER because they can’t reach their provider after hours. With Resilient Pediatric DPC, you’ll always be able to call a pediatric expert to help you through any difficult situation.

  • All wellness and prevention appointments – longer, more personalized appointments
  • Development/behavioral screening
  • In-house lab draws – no need to go to a lab facility for most labwork
  • Follow-ups as needed
  • Remote/telehealth as needed
  • Unlimited texts, email and direct access to your pediatric nurse practitioner
  • Mental health screening and management
  • Acute visits/treatments as needed: medications or breathing treatment needed in office, wart cryotherapy, in-office testing – UTI, strep throat, RSV/influenza, etc. Labs that are sent out will have an additional fee (e.g. throat or wound cultures)
  • Chronic conditions screening/follow-up: Autism, ADHD, eczema, asthma, behavioral concerns, etc. We have more time to spend due to our small patient panel to make sure your family/childs’ needs are met
  • We will coordinate with specialists as needed – this is why it’s essential to have some type of healthcare insurance coverage.

Peace of mind that you’ll always have access to care – no matter the reason. Many families end up in the ER because they can’t reach their provider after hours. With Resilient Pediatric DPC, you’ll always be able to call a pediatric expert to help you through any difficult situation.

At this time we are not able to accommodate non-members. We feel the quality of care and any follow-ups may be compromised if the membership is not established. The benefit of a direct primary care is to build lasting relationships, and seeing non-members takes your practitioner’s time away from her members.

Our staff will send you new patient paperwork, including a membership agreement and collect the enrolment fee. Once this is completed your child will be scheduled. Fill out contact form to inquire or call 208-291-1626

Pricing, Rates & Family Structure

Who Counts as “Primary” vs. “Sibling”?

Primary child is the first child enrolled at the time of sign-up.

Siblings are any additional children added after the primary child is enrolled.

If a sibling is added later and happens to be younger (even a baby), their pricing will follow the sibling tiered structure for their age group.

Yes. Rates will change as children move into the next age bracket after the first year is completed.

Example: A sibling who is 12 and paying $100 will move to $80 when they turn 13.

Babies require much more time and care during their first year. We are also unique in that we provide proactive and comprehensive care that goes above and beyond the standard primary care office. Due to this, the first year is more hands-on than the years after. After that, the rate drops to a maintenance since the foundation has been set.

Insurance Coverage

Does membership replace health insurance?

Direct primary care membership does not replace traditional health insurance. We recommend having some type of health insurance coverage. This can be catastrophic or a community health share, so that emergencies, surgeries, or specialty care will be covered to an extent based on your enrollment plan. If you don’t currently have health insurance coverage Please call our office for more information: 208-291-1626

Yes, your child can still be a member. Please note that our DPC provider has opted out of Medicaid, which means she cannot serve as your child’s primary care provider under Medicaid. However, as an affiliate medicaid provider, she can refer and order tests or medications that are covered by Medicaid.

As part of membership, you will agree not to submit claims to Medicaid for reimbursement. We recommend maintaining an established Medicaid provider for tests, referrals, and coverage needs. Our team can collaborate with your child’s Medicaid provider as needed to ensure coordinated care.

Appointments & Access to Care

How are office visits handled?

You will have direct communication with the clinic and your nurse practitioner. If your nurse practitioner can manage your needs over the phone you will not need to bring your child in. If your provider needs to see your child, she will schedule you an appointment with the goal of the same day or the next day with no added cost. The goal is to prevent Emergency or Urgent Care visits, but this isn’t always possible. If necessary, she may direct you to take your child into the ER or UC.

Our goal is to empower you to confidently care for your child through any situation. We understand that children can become sick at any time, and when concerns arise outside of regular office hours, we are here to guide you.

If your child requires in-person evaluation and the situation is not a true emergency, your provider may arrange to meet you in the clinic when appropriate. However, to keep your provider safe and able to continue serving families, she is not expected to drive to the clinic in the middle of the night. If in-person care is needed overnight, you will be directed to the Emergency Room.

We will always help you determine the safest and most appropriate next step for your child.

We currently do not, but may consider on a case by case basis per providers’ discretion.

We use a direct messaging app called Spruce, giving you real-time access to your healthcare team. No front desk delays. During office hours, your nurse practitioner and medical assistant actively monitor messages. After hours are reserved for urgent call needs. Night calls are routed to Triage for Pediatrics, who will contact your provider if ER or urgent care evaluation is needed.

A Resilient Pediatric DPC team provider covers Spruce messaging 24/7 to ensure uninterrupted access to care. When Dr. Alicia is out of the clinic, her covering Nurse Practitioner, Sarah Yost, will be on call. Families will receive a notification with specific coverage dates, and we recommend checking Spruce regularly, as this is our primary method of communication.

Medical Care & Practice Policies

How do you handle vaccines?

We do not carry immunizations in our clinic, but your provider can provide information per the CDC immunization schedule and discuss with you your options to make the best decision for your children. If you would like to vaccinate your children, she will direct you to the local health department or a local traditional pediatric clinic for any routine vaccinations. We respect family choice and do not coerce or discriminate based on you or your child’s immunization status.

Day or night, if you believe your child needs emergency care, please call us first. A pediatric expert will advise whether an ER visit is necessary.

After hours, you will reach Triage for Pediatrics. If the triage nurse determines an ER visit is needed, they will contact your provider to confirm. If your child goes to the ER, your provider will advocate for your child and support you throughout the process.

If you feel there isn’t enough time to call first,
call 911 or go directly to the ER.

Provider Credentials & Background

What is a nurse practitioner?

A Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) is a licensed healthcare provider who specializes in caring for children from birth through 21 years of age. They can:

  • Perform well-child exams and physicals
  • Send referrals to specialists
  • Diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries
  • Prescribe medications
  • Order and interpret lab tests and imaging
  • Provide guidance on nutrition, growth, development, and behavioral health
  • Support families in managing chronic conditions

PNPs focus on both medical care and educating families to help children stay healthy.

  • PNP (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner): A nurse with advanced training in pediatrics who provides diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care.
  • DNP PNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner): A pediatric nurse practitioner who has completed a doctoral-level degree focused on advanced clinical skills, leadership, and evidence-based practice.
  • Both PNPs and DNP PNPs provide the highest quality of care. The difference is in additional training and focus, not in the ability to safely and effectively care for your child.
